The Importance Of Leisure

Seniors watching videos on seated exercises

The types of activities that people participate in as they age slowly changes from doing productive work (going to work, to their jobs) to resting and taking part in leisure after retirement. Therefore, proper arrangement of activities become even more and more vital after one stops working.

Keeping elderly occupied with leisure activities helps to:

  • Maintain or improve cognitive, physical and emotional health and wellbeing

  • Provide a sense of satisfaction, happiness and achievement

  • Boost confidence

  • Improve social wellbeing

  • Bring meaning to their lives

SAC Beyond Walls programs offer a wide variety of leisure activities for your loved ones to participate in at home! Not only will they be able to access different activities through various mediums (Doing on their own, following a video guide, Zoom sessions with other friends), they will also be able to learn and practice their digital skills!

An Occupational Therapist is also available to provide additional professional help for whatever difficulties they may face. The program is also free for all! So what are you waiting for? Sign up now by approaching any SAC staff or tell a volunteer during a home visit!
